The University of Manchester Middle East Centre held its first ‘hybrid’ open information event where prospective students had the opportunity to learn more about our current portfolio of five part-time Master’s level programmes – the blended learning MBAs and specialist Master’s degrees offered in the Middle East. The event was held in person at Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai and online through Zoom.

Meet the programmes’ directors:
Xavier Duran, Programme Director – The Manchester Global Part-time MBA & Kelley-Manchester Part-time MBA.
Xavier provides leadership and management support on academic, delivery and programme development issues for the Global MBA. He also advises on and manages projects that contribute to improving the student experience. The Middle East Centre has supported more than 2,800 part-time MBA students in the region, since 2006.
Amedeo De Cesari, Programme Director – Part-time MSc Financial Management
Amedeo leads the latest addition to the Middle East portfolio – Part-time MSc Financial Management – which will start in September 2021. Candidates do not need to be finance specialists to take this course, although a strong interest in numbers and analytics is important. The Part-time MSc Financial Management aims to offer the ideas and skills that today’s managers require, and provides a starting point for a successful career in finance.
Mark Shepherd, Programme Director – Part-time MSc Real Estate
Mark is Programme Director for the Part-time MSc Real Estate (blended learning) course and Associate Director for Distance and e-Learning at The University of Manchester. Mark is a qualified chartered surveyor with experience in practice and education, including property investment consultancy and as an independent consultant. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr. Alexander Gardner-McTaggart, Programme Director – Part-time MA Educational Leadership in Practice
Alex is Programme Director for the Part-time MA Educational Leadership in Practice, and a lecturer in educational leadership at the University, having joined as senior lecturer in leadership from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS). He has taught and researched internationally and his research seeks to better understand globalising pressures on education and its leadership through the lens of equity, distinction and power.
