Today, we celebrate the success of a cohort of students that has excelled in their studies with around three-quarters graduating with distinction or merit, representing 15 different nationalities among the 100 nationalities of our student and alumni community in the region. This is a distinctive feature of the Middle East Centre and I am delighted to add that 10% of our graduates are female and they are often some of the highest performing students.

MBA graduates, I would personally like to congratulate you on your achievements in this very inspirational MBA journey and the beginning of the next phase of your careers. Your cohort represents the quality and diversity of the MBA students we support in the region. Every one of you has reached the high standards required of a Manchester MBA.

The global economy and global business continues to change rapidly, as society shifts and digital technology makes even deeper impacts on all our daily and working lives - many industries are transforming dramatically and new ones being created. With your new knowledge and expertise, professional network, and a deeper level of self-confidence, I am sure you feel better equipped than ever to face the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Your MBA success has already clearly demonstrated your professional commitment and marks you out immediately as an exceptional business executive.
Your success remains in your hands and our team and community are here to help you through our alumni association, networks and careers services.

The Middle East Centre continues to be the largest and fastest growing in the University’s network, with new industry-led Masters programmes and executive education courses added to our portfolio, alongside the MBA. Since 2006, we have graduated more than 1,400 part-time MBA students, almost half of whom graduated with a distinction or merit.

We are privileged to be holding today’s graduation ceremony under the generous patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Na¬hayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of State for Tolerance; His Excellency continues to be a greatly valued supporter of the university in the UAE and we are deeply grateful for his encouragement and inspiration, which we have enjoyed from the outset of our work here in the region.

In a fast-changing and turbulent world, I am sure you will agree that you are better prepared to pursue your career with a greater understanding of business and the confidence and professional network to achieve your goals.

The Manchester MBA is a rigorous and demanding programme for working professionals managing life, work and study; the Middle East is notable for the quality and diversity of students we attract and every cohort enriches the learning experience for the benefit of the entire student community, faculty and the university.

We have now completed our first full year of operations since the renaming of the centre in Dubai as The University of Manchester Middle East Centre. Over the last 12 months, we have all worked tirelessly to bring new study options to the region, from industry-led MScs to shorter executive education programmes.

We are delighted with the response to these innovations as we attract students to this broader portfolio of programmes and who add a new dimension to our regional student community.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our students and alumni in the region for your trust in choosing to study with us and for the substantial commitment and support you provide to the university across the region.

To our new Manchester MBA graduates, the university and business school wish you every continued success in your careers. Graduation marks the beginning of our new relationship with you, supporting and enriching your careers, as valued members of our alumni community.
