Ringing the bell for Dubai: Oxford Business Group launches Dubai 2019 report

The University of Manchester sponsor and participant of OBG's Dubai 2019 Report

The Middle East Centre was a sponsor and participant at the recent launch of the Dubai Report 2019 by global research and consultancy firm, Oxford Business Group (OBG), hosted at Nasdaq Dubai. The event started with a symbolic market bell ringing ceremony, followed by a speech by OBG Editor in Chief Oliver Cornock, who then moderated a panel discussion of distinguished speakers – including Randa Bessiso, Middle East Director at The University of Manchester – addressing some of the challenges and opportunities facing Dubai, including Expo 2020. In her comments, Randa stressed the continuing value proposition of Dubai and its competitive advantages, including the growing education sector and support for the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, helping attract and retain global talent, and the growing participation of women in the workplace who she described as the ‘next oil’.

Ringing the market-opening bell at Nasdaq Dubai MarketSite to mark the launch, OBG’s Editor-in-Chief, Oliver Cornock, said that while Dubai had faced a number of economic challenges in recent years, its broad-based non-oil sector offered plenty of opportunities for growth. The Report: Dubai 2019 assesses trends and developments across the emirate, including macroeconomics, infrastructure, banking and others. The Report: Dubai 2019 has been produced with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and PwC.
